Käsekaiser 2020 - Granitbeisser - Der Mediterrane

Even if the winners cannot be honoured at a gala this year, the best cheeses in the country have been chosen and have been awarded the AMA Käsekaiser. The three-day jury meeting for the AMA-Käsekaiser took place at the end of September. Due to Corona, eleven sensory experts from Austria and Bavaria determined the best cheese from the 145 entries this year. More than half of the jurors were cheese masters from local cheese dairies. Ten representatives from the trade and culinary journalists decided on the 15 innovations. Since no AMA Käsekaiser Gala can take place this year, the trophies have been handed over directly to the companies in the last few days by a small delegation from AMA Marketing. The coveted statues were awarded in ten categories: cream cheese, soft cheese, mild and fine semi-hard cheese, tasty semi-hard cheese, spicy and strong semi-hard cheese, hard cheese, organic cheese, cheese specialties and traditions as well as innovation. In addition, the most popular Austrian cheese in Germany was crowned.
We are particularly pleased this year, we would like to share this joy with you. In the “Innovation” category, the varieties “Der Mediterrane”, “Der Pfeffrige” and “Der Orientalische” were entered - all three varieties were nominated for the “Käsekaiser” - a great, outstanding success for the Lower Austrian cheese producers! In the end, the “Granitbeisser – Der Mediterrane” made the final race among the top-class jury and was awarded the title of “Käsekaiser 2020”.
